!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Other folks might not share my enthusiasm, but more affordable RWD sporty cars (assuming this is Nissan's answer to the GT86/FR-S/BRZ) is always a good thing for us. And the possible release date of 2016 (maybe later) aligns very well with my financial situation. All in all, this is great news.

I just wish they would make it more sporty looking or more retro. It's some horrible in between place. It's like they couldn't quite decide which 60's-70's products they wanted to emulate so they emulated them all.
I still think they should just take this guys render and run with it:

I'm happy too. I'd be happier though if it didn't have a belt line taller than the hoover dam.

Who knows? Maybe they'll hear us and do some changes in the production model. The fact that Nissan is committing to this at some level is good enough for me.

I really hope Kia gets the Stinger ready for 2016 as well.

im just glad it looks a million times better than chevy's attempt... And knowing how concepts turn into production models, id say the idx will be a little curvier and less vulgar. But id be okay as it sits too.

That would be welcome news as well!

I won't say no to something like this, but to be honest, there are a number of factors that affect design decisions in a car. I'm guessing they will try to cater to their target consumers (early 20's and 30's working folks), so they came up with the IDx.
Who knows? This is just a concept, maybe they'll translate some better design elements in the production model.

To be honest with you, that Chevy concept looked pretty good to me as well. There are just some awkward angles on it, but overall is not that bad IMO.

I just cant!! Its proportions are all just awkward. The cabin shape looks like a bubble. I hate to say this, but it looks too curvy in spots. Beltline is rather high, with a very high roof (proportionally speaking). Coupes arent suppose to have usable rear seats! And just like the burbs/hoes/rados its got a massive front end. Wheels almost look too big, but i suppose its necessary since the appearance of the car looks large.
IDx has much better proportions. I just hope they have other paint versions than "drift missile inspired, mismatched painted panels"
Also, Why is everything getting black wheels! black wheels are not classy! I dont want my rims to look invisible...
/endrant haha.

I'll be happy if it has a turbocharged I4 at about 2 liters.
It won't though. Nissan refuses to sell cars with anything other than a NA 3.7 V6 anymore (or so it seems). This car LOOKS cool, and MAAAAYBE will cause Nissan to revisit the roots it set in the late 80's and early 90's, but they seem pretty stalwart about high-displacement, naturally aspirated, V configs.

I don't think so. My guess is it will be a 4-banger just to stay competitive with the BRZ/GT86. And that it will have enough HP and torque to make it fun on the twisted roads. Plus fuel economy should be a factor in these upcoming cars if they wish to stay relevant.
I did have some nasty thoughts of shoving my car's engine in this body. Besides, I thought I read somewhere that the IDx Freeflow currently has a 1.5 engine, while the IDx Nismo has the 1.6 turbo? Who knows, we'll have to play the waiting game.
The only thing that really ruins it for me is that there is a possibility of this not having a manual.
